Orthodontic Treatment in Roseville, NSW

IYoung girl smiling with braces, Roseville NSWn today’s hectic world of selfies and social media, a straight, beautiful smile can help you feel confident about your interactions with other people.

Besides a lovely smile, having straight teeth has many dental health advantages. Properly aligned teeth are easier to brush and floss correctly, reducing your chances of developing common dental problems like tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease.

When your bite is correctly aligned, it minimises your risk of developing jaw joint (TMJ) discomfort and disorders. You can avoid the symptoms associated with temporomandibular disorder (TMD), like pain when chewing, popping or clicking of the jaw joint, jaw locking open or closed, and painful headaches or migraines.

Traditional Braces in Roseville Offer Excellent Tooth and Bite Alignment

Traditional brackets and wires are a tried, true, and trusted method for aligning teeth and properly correcting bites. Braces are often best for achieving your desired results, and they are the treatment Dr. Yang would recommend for patients with more complex bite concerns.

At Roseville Dental and Implants, Dr. Yang’s extensive skills and training allow her to provide comprehensive orthodontic treatment using traditional braces and clear aligners. During an orthodontic evaluation, she can help determine which option is best for your smile. She’ll use photos, x-rays, and a thorough exam to help you decide if traditional braces or clear aligners will deliver the best results for your specific needs.

Post Orthodontic Benefits

Orthodontics can be about more than a beautiful smile. There are also oral health benefits to be considered. See the boxes below to learn more.

Effective Oral Hygiene

When teeth are not crowded and overlapping, your toothbrush and floss can better clean your teeth and gums, which is always a bonus.

Jaw Joint Function

When teeth are misaligned, they can stress jaw joints, leading to temporomandibular joint disorder and general jaw joint discomfort.

Tooth Wear and Tear

When your bite surface is not level, chewing and oral function fall to specific teeth, leading to premature tooth wear, tear and loss.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you choose clear aligners with Invisalign, Spark, or braces, it's essential to maintain your daily home care routine throughout your treatment to ensure you achieve the best results. Tooth brushing and flossing do differ a bit depending on your treatment method. Here's what you should know.

Home Care with Clear Aligners

One benefit of clear aligners is that you can remove them for brushing and flossing, keeping your home care routine simple. However, it is also important to rinse your aligners and your mouth between meals to keep plaque from building up inside your aligners.

We recommend that patients carry a soft toothbrush and mouth rinse for meals when they're not at home.

Oral Hygiene with Traditional Braces

Brushing and flossing around brackets and wires is a bit trickier than just removing clear aligners. The brackets are attached to your teeth, so you'll need to brush over and around them to effectively remove plaque and food debris. An electric toothbrush is very helpful in this process.

You'll use floss threaders to pull the floss under the wires and between the brackets so you can floss your teeth and keep your gums healthy during treatment. Our team will show you how to brush and floss around braces effectively.

We are excited to offer traditional braces and orthodontic treatment in Roseville with clear aligners to give our patients excellent options for straightening teeth.

At Roseville Dental and Implants, orthodontic treatments - including braces and clear aligners like Invisalign - start from $6,000.

The Advantages of Traditional Braces

If you have complicated bite concerns, brackets and wires will provide the best results. You won’t have to worry about removing them for meals or cleaning your teeth like you would clear aligners, and there’s no chance of misplacing them since they’re attached to your teeth.

When you’re compliant about your diet and home care during treatment with braces, you can expect to finish your treatment on time, and the results of your beautiful smile and functional bite will be worth the time you spent wearing brackets and wires.

Life with Braces In Roseville

Keeping your teeth clean and plaque-free during your orthodontic treatment is the key to success, and we’ll show you how to properly brush and floss around your brackets and wires to ensure your teeth remain healthy during your orthodontic treatment.

There are also some foods to avoid to help keep your braces intact, such as sticky, hard, or chewy items. Don’t bite directly into hard items like crusty bread, carrots, or apples to prevent knocking a bracket off your teeth. Instead, cut hard foods into bite-sized pieces that are easier to enjoy.
